Energy saving

Bombilla

VIVES has set up two cogeneration stations in order to satisfy the heating needs of the clay atomisation sections and, at the same time to produce electricity necessary for the needs of the internal premises.

Saving energy

Energy is a key element in the ceramics industrial processes since they require a considerable quantity of heating energy to produce these materials. One example of this would be the drying of the atomised clay to produce the atomised ceramic dust.

Construction of cogeneration stations

Being aware of this, in 1991 we inaugurated our first cogeneration station at Azulejos Vives II, provided by an electric power of 3.7MW, able to satisfy the heating needs of the clay atomisation section. At the same time, it can supply the necessary electricity to the whole production plant. As a result of the good working out, in 1992 we decided to install the second cogeneration station provided with the same power at Ceramica Vives I.

Through a natural gas turbine, our premises produce both heating for the clay drying process and enough electricity to supply the production plants, exporting the exceeding energy.

reducing environmental impact

Thanks to these actions, we save energy and therefore reduce the environmental impact at the same time that we generate electricity.
